Overview
AutoSites is an automatic site generation program which creates sophisticated websites with search, form mailing, site map, integrated site navigation, with many other sophisticated Modules available on demand. With AutoSites, an unlimited number of website can be generated for resale to your Clients.
All websites generated each have their own content management edit system, where users can maintain their website content and edit their site structure via simple to use online web browser interfaces. Further, the System Administrator can control all websites from a single, central admin suite.
The 'Try it' module you can see running at http://www.hibyte.co.uk/cgi-bin/auto/try.pl is included in the basic package. This is a method of letting end users create a site automatically and get a feel for what adding content and managing a site involves. All trial sites generated by this means can be deleted periodically from the Admin console - or converted to a 'real' site if the user requires this. There is also an 'Order' module, in which the user selects a site design using the same mechanism and submits an order for that site to the ISP operating this installation of AutoSites.The range of designs offered in either module is generated automatically from the range of template specifications available, so will expand automatically as further specifications are added. |

There is a corresponding 'Real Sites' module operated by admin, who can specify the location of a site (on the same server or within a network if the scripts have write priveleges across it). HTTP access to the site can either be a sublocation on your site (www.yoursite.com/sitexxx) or a real domain, provided that you have the necessry admin priveleges to point this domain at the location you have specified for the site. (An ISP will, of course, have these priveleges)
All of these setup methods feed through to the core set of scripts which handle editing, site structure creation of navigation, search, form mailing etc. These scripts can also serve the pages, but for a variety of reasons (search engine optimisation, server loading, speed) also write a 'static' site to the prescribed location for that particular site. (this writing takes place behind the scenes as a user edits the site, so it's always in step with the editing taking place).
An AutoSite can also readily integrate ordinary HTML pages, Flash pages etc created by conventional means and placed by FTP either at the site's location or elsewhere. These 'conventional' pages can, in turn, integrate the auto-generated site navigation simply by copying to them the src of the menu-creation javascript and activation coding which appears on every Autosites-generated page. |

We currently supply a range of site-design templates for use with AutoSites, and this range will be expanded periodically. You can also add your own templates, we have published comprehensive instructions for new template creation at our website. Template creation is well within the capabilities of anyone who understands HTML. |

The free distribution of AutoSites can be downloaded from here. This distribution is in no way restricted - it is a fully operable version which can be used to generate an unlimited number of websites on the same server.
