5 Does AutoSites require database connectivity on the server?
In it's basic form, no. By default, AutoSites will store all content into managed directories at the location where the core installation of AutoSites has been placed. Performance is fast thanks to our optimised distributed data structure.

If preffered, AutoSites can also be very easily integrated into an existing SQL compliant database, such as MySQL, MS Access, MS SQL Server etc.

6 Where and how is the data stored?
By default, all data is stored in plain text / flatfile databases at the central location where the core scripts run. For this reason there is no dependancy on a native database capability on the server. Each site has its own subdirectory.

Where a database driven installation is specified, this content is inserted into the database.

In both cases, AutoSites uses our very high performance distributed data structure, to provide maximum speed and scalability.

Additionally, at setup of any individual site, you can specify a location like ' /home/xxx/public_html ' . With this, as a user edits a site, a 'static' version of that site is written to that location. This improves search-engine access, reduces loading on the server and means that a site thus created can be transferred to a different location as a 'static' site, if this is desired.

7 What web address ( URL ) will AutoSite websites have?
you can create AutoSites so that the address might be...

http://www.yourdomain.com/client
http://client.yourdomain.com
http://www.clientsdomain.com

You will need the ability to control domains (or sub domains), but otherwise there is no problem with publishing AutoSite generated websites to these areas. This assumes that these areas are all on the same webserver as the core installation of AutoSites - though with Option 4's Remote Publication module, you can even publish websites to another server, while still retaining central administrative control.

8 Can AutoSites be customised?
Yes - in many ways! We place no restrictions on how you market or present your AutoSites based service to your clients. You can even re-brand the product!

All client facing areas have been 'externalised' into external HTML templates, so editing these to suit a new identity / design is straightforward for those with basic skills in HTML.

The AutoSites Site Designs (aka Templates) can also be adapted, or added to - we supply full instructions on this on our website here

We are also available for support on this (and all issues), and can supply an AutoSites re-branding service on request.

9 Can I convert or translate AutoSites into another language like French, Arabic?
Yes! This is now easier than ever, as following many such requests, we've now 'externalised' all the text for client facing elements, into a few simple text files. Simply run through each line, translating as necessary and re-upload the files and that's it!

AutoSites has been successfully translated into most Western European languages, some Asian (including Russian) and even Arabic.

10 Is there a Shopping Cart / Product Display module for AutoSites?
Yes there is - a very sophisticated shopping cart module is available with AutoSites Option 3, for unlimited re-sale to your clients as part of an AutoSites website.

The cart is of course fully content managed, allowing your clients to maintain their online product database as easily as any other page. These carts can each be easily integrated into a range on online payment providers, such as WorldPay, PayPal, 2Checkout.com, Authorize.net and many more.

AutoSites Carts can even be set to post their orders to an external URL for custom form processing, or to simply email the order to one or more specified email addresses.

14 What is Remote Publication?
AutoSites Remote Publication module allows you to Publish a client's website to another server, while retaining central control of the features and limits set to the website. The static pages are written to the clients' account, and dynamic opertations (eg editing) is done via the core installation of AutoSites - tho the latter is largely transparent to the user. Remote Publication is included in Option 4. Details on the Options can be seen here www.hibyte.co.uk/software/hbpages/auto_pricing.html

We used to have two versions of Remote Publication - Full and Lite. We've only got one Remote Publication system now, which takes the best features of both original systems.

15 How does the licensing work?
AutoSites works on a per-installation license. For every installation of AutoSites, you need a new license for the paid-for Modules that you operate with that installation.

You can build as many websites as you like, and sell these at whatever price you like, using your installation of AutoSites, no matter which Option you own.

If you need a second installation of AutoSites to run in parallel to your existing, simply put a new order through here for each Module you intend to re-use with that new installation, and so on for each new installation of AutoSites.
