7 Does HiAgents require database connectivity?
 In it's basic form, no.

However if required, we can easily assist in linking HiAgents to run with an existing database, such as MS Access or SQL Server, or configure the module to build a new database on the fly.

9 Surely most Estate Agents already advertise their properties online?
Many, perhaps most Estate Agents use one or more online services like findaproperty.com to advertise properties.

In most cases, this is quite valuable - it brings prospective purchasers to an agent form a large, well-advertised database. The drawbacks are:

There is usually a delay in getting properties online - whereas HiAgents is instant.

Linking to an external property database takes browsers away from the agent's own site - HiAgents is integral to the agent's own site

The major property databases charge recurring fees, and may not be cost-effective to use - HiAgents is a one-off purchase

Although HiAgents can be used to replace use of an external database, perhaps the best strategy for an agent is to use advertising on one or more major property databases to bring visitors to the site, and use HiAgents to keep them there once they have arrived

10 Could I use HiAgents to offer an online database to multiple agents?
Yes, HiAgents MultiUser provides exactly this capability. Unlimited user accounts can be set up, offering independent search and listing capabilities.

Alternatively, it can be used to differentiate between sub-branches of one agent, or between different portfolios (for example UK and Overseas)

11 HiAgents looks great, but I don't sell property. Have you a module that sells motorbikes?
We have used HiAgents to demonstrate an underlying technology that can be used to sell any product.

We will shortly be releasing dedicated modules for a number of other industries, including motor vehicles. These releases will inlude a product database with integral shopping basket and secure transaction checkout

We are happy to adapt this technology for any only duty - if you think we can help with your project, Contact us!

12 Can HiAgents Multi User create a sub-domain automatically?
When a new user registers we get the program to create a sub directory and write appropriate content there (usually an index page). (This applies to both HiAgents MU and Autosites) We can create this sub domain anywhere on the server where our scripts have authority to write. This is, of course, sufficient in itself for access of the type http://www.yourdomain.com/usersarea/ and we have no problem in automating this type of sub-domain.

14 Can I covert HiAgents/Hiagents MU into another language like French, Arabic?
Yes you can convert the user interface to another language like French, Arabic. Much of the front end is html templates, so you could do this quite easily. Text elements which are present in the Perl can also be altered - and we will give advice on how to change this if necessary

15 Where and how is the data stored?
All data is stored in plain text / flatfile databases at the central location where the core script runs. For this reason there is no dependancy on a native database capability on the server. Each site has its own subdirectory.

However at setup of any individual site you specify a location like /home/xxx/public_html directory (if this path doesn't already exist it will be created with the correct permissions) As a user edits a site a 'static' version of that site is written to that location. This improves search-engine access, reduces loading on the server and means that a site thus created can be transferred to a different location as a 'static' site if this is desired
