Flash opens
up new possibilities in the design of navigation systems.
However, if a site is aimed at
corporates, the public sector or workplace surfers, it
should be noted that a substantial proportion of these
users will have browsers too old to support these relatively
new technologies, and strict software policies may prohibit
the downloading of upgrades.

& Shockwave
Animations
for the web
Flash and Shockwave are highly compressed
animation and dynamic page design formats
developed specifically for the web.
Small file sizes mean short download times,
and applications include mini "presentations"
like the one above, site branding (like Private
View's subtle colour warp, top right), navigation
systems and complete sites.

the essential 'Skip' button bottom
right.
Increasingly popular in
sites aimed at home viewers, especially teenagers
who seldom hesitate to download upgrades where required,
but should be treated with caution on sites aimed
at a workplace user base - see panel on left.
